Genocide of a Sub-Culture
Written off the cuff by, Herb Anthony
I do NOT advocate drug use or any form of substance abuse. HOWEVER, we should have the Sovereign right to decide how to approach our addictive nature and the coarse of action we feel is best for us. Be it abstinence, or "the feeding of our animal-brain" enough to satisfy our addictions, should be our choice and ours alone. Unless that use interrupts the daily routine of others, due to events caused by our behavioral patterns. A respectful, thoughtful and Humane approach to addiction needs to be fair and balanced, with emphasis on the health and medical issues and NOT this "counter-productive" manner which side steps our rights as citizens to choose the way we manifest our destiny. Losing ones liberty does not curb the addiction or improve family problems in most cases. When someone is incarcerated for the sale or use of an illegal substance (not to include other illegal actions of theft, violence or other) this destroys the basic fabric of the family unit, without resolving the individual's physiological and psycho-emotional desires for the drug. There is NO law that can take away an addiction. We need more research and better programs and methods of helping to either rid a person's desire for their unhealthy actions or help them create a safe and honorable means to sustain and maintain their habit within a lifestyle that is meaningful, respectable, productive and safe. With or without their drug of choice.
~~~~STOP THE DRUG WAR~~~~
This "so-called" war on drugs isn't really aimed at ending drug use in the United States and the World. It is more like "Genocide of a Sub-Culture" of those people who use and sell drugs and their families and friends who accept them. Also, there is a huge economic windfall that would be crushed if the legal sale of items used for storage of these substances, paraphernalia , and markets that sell legal items ranging from lighters, to rolling papers, cigars to baking soda, smoking utensils (pipes), and a variety of items which are used in the manufacture, distribution and promotion of the legal uses of both legal and illegal substances that do everything from altering moods to altering perceptions.
Problems that erupt from from drug use, also have a wide range of causes which may have little to do with the actual effects of the drugs. The most widely devastating results of drug use are sustained when a user or seller is arrested, convicted and subsequently incarcerated as this causes more families to be destroyed by this action than the number of families affected by the unfortunate dysfunctional aspects of many users. However, this dysfunction would be better addressed by a HEALTHIER APPROACH of respectfully treating the entire spectrum of drug use/abuse with a serious unbiased objectiveness. Criminalizing people for making unhealthy decisions has to the worst abuse of a legislative body. There are far too many unhealthy actions
We live in a society which prides itself on freedoms. When personal freedom of choice, and sovereign decisions are side-stepped into being outside the social acceptance of the "norm," we place many groups and individuals at risk of the most sacred right of ALL, "Liberty." To lose ones complete freedom by incarceration and/or forced compliance to arcane laws are opposite of the rights given to us by the Constitution of the United States and is UNCONSCIONABLE.
The founding fathers of our country gave much thought and debate as to what should be included in forming the framework by which a collective body of a new nation would be able to unite all cultures and it's citizens lifestyles and backgrounds and to express the diversity of the nation as a whole.
"Genocide of a Sub-Culture," is the term I coined to reflect the way our culture has been divided and sub-divided and the background of ancestral diversity which lends credence to the creation of offshoots of the main branches of the "TREE OF LIFE," is systematically and meticulously being snuffed out by using such tactics like the "drug war," and the extraction social nonconformity by making their ideals and their lifestyles against the "law of the land." This is resulting in "Genocide of Sub-cultures" within the borders of our nation.
Taking into account these historic words; "Give me Liberty or Give me Death"
and these most important words.....
"WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Our only true hope of survival and prosperity for everyone is to return to the ABSOLUTENESS of the Preamble, and hold a "CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION" to reflect today's social structure, using the basic outline of the original constitution.
"We the people of the United States of America," the primary context and the meaning of these words are inclusive of every individual member of our society, through years of constitutional amendments and Supreme Court "interpretations" of these amendments, plus legislative changes have SLICED the pie of our social entirety. Dividing the collective wholeness of the population of the United States of America. Thus, making it easier for hungry greed mongers to snatch up profits from mass fortune, funnel it to their individual and selective groups and become more powerful than our elected officials. They have been able to remain hidden behind the veil of secrecy and anonymity by quasi organizations and corporations, protected by "the Supreme Court," who have ultimate final say in determining which laws are constitutional and relevant to maintain the stronghold these powerful people have on influencing the decision making body (Congress). Congress makes ALL laws pertaining to the lives of each and every Citizen of the United States. However, these Supreme Court Justices are NOT part of the electorate. They are appointed by the presidential administrations which are in power at the time a new appointee is needed. These Justices are appointed for LIFE terms. Thereby creating the Highest unofficial office of our nation into a quasi government, overseeing the elected Gov. and shaping the social norms to conform to the narrow viewpoints of those within the "office" called the "Supreme Court."
This has caused us to become enslaved to the whims of the ones who influence the most powerful people in our nation. Anyone who disagrees with a Supreme Court decision has little or no recourse because they have final say to the point where they determine if we can even get an appeal to their decision. "FOX GUARDING THE HEN HOUSE."
Please STOP THE GENOCIDE OF A SUB-CULTURE within the fabric of our society, before it turns into a SILENT HOLOCAUST.
